Following the slap heard around the world involving comedian Chris Rock, actor Will Smith may be suffering a smack to the face of his own, which may sting a little.

And who is smacking who this time? It might be Disney. You heard correctly. The “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” graduate made his cinematic debut as Genie in the 2019 live-action picture “Aladdin,” which grossed an estimated $1 billion worldwide.

Though Disney has continued to use Smith’s content, there is a strong possibility that he may be replaced as the famous figure in the future “Aladdin 2” movie, according to Inside the Magic.

Multiple publications are citing a possibility that actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might take up the role of Genie in the forthcoming film, according to Inside the Magic. The famous figure was first performed by Robin Williams in the 1992 animated picture, and the character has been a Disney mainstay for decades.

Some Disney fans feel Smith outperformed Rock as Genie, and he’s an accomplished actor, having won the Oscar for Best Actor for his role of Richard Williams in the 2021 film “King Richard” only minutes before slapping Rock. Despite this, Johnson may get the opportunity to show Disney fans what he can do if he comes in as Smith’s replacement in the “Aladdin” sequel.

Several projects have been delayed or terminated as a result of Smith’s opposition. So far, Disney has not released an official update to provide any clarification on whether Smith will continue in the post or whether the rumours of his replacement are genuine, according to Inside the Magic. For the time being, we’ll simply have to wait and see.
