The Shaw family has played a major role in The Fast And The Furious movies, and here’s why the clan should receive their own spinoff film.

While many spinoff concepts have been mooted in The Fast And The Furious franchise, here’s why the Shaw family needs their own solo movie. Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw was introduced during a mid-credit scene for Fast & Furious 6, where it’s revealed he was the one who caused Han’s (seemingly) fatal car accident. This was in revenge for Dom and his crew maiming Deckard’s evil brother Owen (Luke Evans) in the sixth movie, and Shaw then became a major antagonist in Furious 7.

While Statham’s Shaw was basically like a Terminator during the seventh outing, he was popular with viewers and later entries set about redeeming his past misdeeds. He also shared great chemistry with Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, so the duo fronted the franchise’s first movie spinoff Hobbs & Shaw in 2019. The movie was a comfortable hit and the stars will reunite for Hobbs & Shaw 2 – which may finally give Han justice.

Deckard Shaw’s popularity is such that later Fast & Furious movies have expanded on his family. His mother Magdalene “Queenie” Shaw – played by Helen Mirren – first appeared in The Fate Of The Furious, while Deckard’s younger sister Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) arrived in Hobbs & Shaw. In contrast to the rest of her clan, who are all involved with illegal activities on some level, Hattie is an MI6 agent. Since a new family member seems to get introduced in each passing sequel, there are no doubt other Shaws waiting to arrive too. The clan is yet to be all seen together, though, so the Fast & Furious movie saga should make a Shaw family solo movie.

Crime boss Queenie has been relatively underused in the Fast & Furious series so far, while Owen Shaw has been missing in action for a few movies. The Shaw’s have evolved into a family unit to rival Dom’s crew at this point, but there’s a lot about them that’s still unknown. In particular, the father of Deckard, Hattie and Owen has yet to be revealed by Agen Slot Gacor, and what exactly Queenie does in the criminal underworld has been left vague. In the same way Hobbs & Shaw gave two of Fast & Furious’ best supporting players a showcase, there’s plenty about the Shaw family to explore yet.

Of course, giving Statham two spinoffs in one series may sound a little much, but with the main saga ending with the eleventh movie, it’s time to explore other side stories. In the tradition of redeeming former villains, maybe the Shaw movie could see the rest of the family trying to stop Owen’s latest mercenary scheme, with Hattie and Deckard teaming to bring him down. With potential Fast & Furious spinoffs in the works for the likes of Charlize Theron’s Cipher, it would be much of a stretch to make a fun solo movie for the Shaw family.
