The inspiration behind this video:

Chris Evans has thrown his full support behind Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson following a report failing to name the character as Captain America while announcing the director for the upcoming solo film Captain America 4.

Evans played Steve Rogers aka Captain America from 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger until 2019’s Avengers: Endgame where, at the end of the film, he handed the shield over to his friend and ally Sam Wilson.

This was in keeping with the comics, as in 2014 Sam Wilson became the new Captain America.

The MCU explored Sam Wilson’s journey to becoming Captain America with the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which premiered in March 2021 and concluded in April the same year.

The day after the final episode aired it was confirmed that Marvel Studios was developing Captain America 4 with Sam Wilson in the lead role.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman will pen the script and it was recently announced that Julius Onah would direct Captain America 4.
