A British medical student, Latiesha Jones from Manchester, made headlines when she decided to leave medical school and quit her part-time job at Tesco to pursue an unconventional career in selling her own bodily fluids online. Initially aiming to earn enough money to pay off her £11,000 ($USD 13,585) debt, she stumbled upon a lucrative side business that involves selling her saliva and other bodily waste, captivating and leaving online entrepreneurs envious of her success.
At just 22 years old, Jones reported earning up to £5,000 (AUD$9,400) a week from this surprising venture, which began four years ago after she received unusual requests for items while working on OnlyFans. “It all started as a fluke,” she explained, revealing how she had been surprised by the demand for her shower water. “I always knew it was a thing but didn’t know it was so easily accessible.”
As her side hustle blossomed, she found herself fulfilling various bizarre requests, including selling her worn bedsheets, sweaty gym clothes, bathwater, toothbrushes, and even her spit. “Anything you can think of, people want it,” she said, noting that the request for her spit was one of the most popular.
At first, she thought receiving an order for a jar of her spit was a joke, but when she recognized the seriousness of the request, she charged £300 ($AUD567). “I couldn’t believe how easy it was,” she said. Although she negotiates prices based on the customer, she never sells her spit for less than £200 ($247) and has made as much as £1,500 ($USD1,852, AUD$2,834) per sale when she knew the buyer was willing to pay.
Despite her newfound financial freedom and the ability to help her family—she has paid off her mother’s debts, bought a horse for her sister, and is now enjoying a luxurious lifestyle—Jones admits that her decision has strained her relationship with her mother. “Everyone around me is really supportive. Everyone laughs about it. The only person I don’t speak to now because of my job is my mum. I’ve never had a good relationship with her anyway,” she said. However, she finds comfort in the support of her boyfriend and twin sister, who both embrace her unique career choice.
Reflecting on her unexpected journey, Jones stated, “I studied biomedical science and wanted to be a doctor—something I’d wanted to do for my whole life. I never thought this would be my career, but I’m happy that it is. I love it. The freedom it gives you and the money is a big thing for me, as I’ve never grown up with money. I never knew what it felt like to go out and buy whatever I wanted.”
With online entrepreneurs looking on in awe, Latiesha Jones’s extraordinary decision to capitalize on her bodily fluids has transformed her life in unexpected ways. “It’s a wild world out there,” she concluded.
