Initially, Ashley Class, who lives in an older home with her family, dismissed it as her child’s overactive imagination, likely sparked by their recent viewing of Monsters Inc.
However, the family soon suspected there might be some truth to their daughter’s claims. “We noticed a couple of bees while playing outside, and as days went by, we saw more and more, thinking, ‘That’s a little strange,’” Class shared with Good Morning America. The Classes reached out to several beekeepers, but none were able to locate the source. That’s when Curtis Collins stepped in.
“I knew they were there. It was just a matter of where they were making their hive,” he explained.
Eventually, Collins discovered the hive within the wall of the Class’ three-year-old daughter’s bedroom. According to Collins, the hive was among the largest he had ever seen, taking up the entire wall space.
“When he opened it up, they were just swarming around our room. We didn’t even have time to get any of her stuff out,” Class recounted.
“It was really neat to show our 3-year-old that these are the ‘monsters’ you’ve been hearing. You were completely right,” she said. The Classes have since begun the challenging process of safely removing the bees from their daughter’s bedroom.
Yikes! Imagine finding 50,000 bees hidden in the wall of your home!
